Selected from the world's finest growers and shipped daily, Debenhams flowers are guaranteed for quality and freshness. To bring your recipient even longer lasting pleasure, we use more blooms still in bud and include flower food and care instructions with each arrangement. More detailed guidelines for extending the life of cut flowers alongside an outline of the flowers that make up your bouquet are given below.
Care of cut flowers
Untitled Document
Remove all packaging and trim the stems by 2-3cm, making a diagonal
cut with a sharp knife or secateurs.
Remove any leaves that will be below the waterline.
Place the flowers in a vase containing clean lukewarm water mixed
with the sachet of flower food provided, following the guidelines on
the reverse of the sachet. Do not use metal containers as they neutralise
the effects of flower food.
Display the flowers in a cool, light location away from draughts,
direct heat, sunshine or fresh fruit.
Keep the vase water level topped up as necessary.
To refresh flowers after 4-5 days, remove any drooping flowers or
foliage, re-cut stems by 1-2cm and replace in fresh lukewarm water.
Special note:
Lily pollen can stain clothing, furniture etc. In case of contact
leave to dry, then brush off. Do not use water
Care of baskets
Untitled Document
Water the plants a little and often over a sink and allow to drain.
Mist daily.
Do not allow the compost or oasis to dry out completely or become
waterlogged.
Treat planted baskets with plant food weekly.
Remove any dead blossoms to promote further flowering.
Although your basket includes a waterproof liner, we do not recommend
placing it on a polished surface. Display in a bright position away
from direct sunlight and fresh fruit.
Care of orchids
Untitled Document
Water cut orchids regularly, keep the vase topped up with water.
Do not allow the compost or oasis to dry out completely or become
waterlogged.
Frequent misting of the orchids with water is recommended. Please
note: Cymbidium orchids do not require misting.
Treat planted orchids with plant food once a month. After flowering,
cut the flower stem at the base of the plant. With the right care and
conditions, your orchid will flower again after six months.
Remove any dead blossoms to promote further flowering.
Although your basket includes a waterproof liner, we do not recommend
placing it on a polished surface. Display in a bright position away
from direct sunlight, drafts, fresh fruit and vegetables.
