Let's start with holiday
Naturally, there's plenty of paid holiday. But we also offer the opportunity
to take a career break of up to 1 year, as long as you've worked for us
for at least a year. You can buy or sell up to 1 week's holiday time.
And we'll give prospective parents both paternity and maternity leave
- including those adopting. There's personal leave of up to 5 days to
cover unforeseen circumstances and domestic emergencies if you have 1
year's service. What's more, all permanent staff get one 'floating day'
on top of their annual holiday to be used around Christmas.
What about hours?
Well, we're completely committed to giving all our employees a good balance
between work and personal life, so depending on the area and role you
work in we may be able to offer part time contracts, job sharing and even
four-day weeks and nine-day fortnights. Actual daily hours can be flexible
too, with start and finish times not restricted to the normal 9 to 5.
These are informal arrangements managed locally and available on a permanent
or ad hoc basis.
Discounts
Generous discount is given on our own merchandise, which many people find
highly convenient - especially at Christmas and birthdays. All Debenhams
employees can also take advantage of a range of specially negotiated discounts
with external companies, including leisure centres, restaurants, theatres
and insurance businesses.
Working in an office or store in central London?
Then you are eligible for a free zone 1-6 travel card. And if you live
outside zone 6, then you can get an interest free season ticket loan to
help fund the difference. Anyone who is required to relocate either through
promotion or at the request of the company will be compensated with a
relocation package that may cover legal, conveyancing and removal fees.
Thinking of joining us as a Manager or Senior Executive?
Then you'll qualify for our Flexible Reward scheme, which will allow you
to choose from a menu of benefits that are constantly being improved and
updated. Many options are also open to partners and dependants, for example,
private medical insurance and tax reporting. Company cars are also available
through this scheme and can be traded up and down with an extensive choice
of cars available.

which is why we offer a number of share schemes:
Sharesave enables our employees to buy our shares at a discount of 20%
by means of a monthly savings account for 3 or 5 years. And with our Share
Option plans, grants are made to people working as Managers or above over
a 3 year period based on their salary and grade at the time of the award.
Health, pension and insurance cover
Everyone here gets a generous discount on BUPA Private Medical insurance
and 24 hour personal accident cover starts from day one. You also have
the opportunity to join our pension scheme that includes life insurance
cover, incapacity/ill-health protection and employer contributions as
well as providing you with a level of guaranteed level of pension whilst
you are a member of the scheme.
But our benefits don't stop there.
Outstanding people or teams can be nominated for our employee recognition
scheme, Celebrating Success, which can award them instant, monthly and
